Water Hyacinth

This beautiful flower is a bit misleading in that it belongs to an invasive species called the Water Hyacinth.  The water Hyacinth is a tough species in that it can not be controlled and can end up looking like below.

This plant is a common wetland species throughout Louisiana.  Notice the heart shaped leaves and erect blue flowers.
